ABOUT ME
My name is Anna van der Vliet - I am an independent civil funeral celebrant, trained and certified by Civil Ceremonies. I currently live on the border of Surrey and Hampshire.

I was born in the Netherlands, where I spent my early years until my late twenties, when I made the move to the UK.

In a previous chapter of my life, I worked as a Mathematician and Data Analyst. However, personal circumstances led me down a different, less cerebral path - one that ultimately shaped my purpose today.
Having navigated intense grief first hand, I deeply understand the profound impact of loss. Now, my mission is to support families during these difficult times with kindness and sensitivity.
I find comfort in conversation and presentation, and one of my greatest strengths lies in my genuine curiosity about people’s stories. After all, everyone has an intriguing tale to share.

When it comes to funerals and ceremonies, I firmly believe in customisation. Each service should reflect the unique essence and life of the person being remembered. A good ceremony, be it a funeral ceremony, a memorial or a scattering of ashes ceremony, in my view, provides closure - a meaningful way to say goodbye. It becomes a final act of love for the departed and an opportunity for family and friends to come together, remembering and supporting one another.
